Dog Bark Park Inn
Cottonwood, United States of AmericaBed & BreakfastArty Family
The worlds largest Beagle, offering unique accommodation inside it's 2 story body.

Sleep in a dog!

This whimsical B+B offers two fantastic connected rooms in a one-of- kind wooden dog. Even the toilet is disguised as a fire hydrant!!

With the two big dogs signaling your arrival to Dog Bark Park visitors may walk the grounds, browse the gift shop and artists' studio featuring the whimsical chainsaw artwork of husband and wife artists Dennis and Frances. Canine carvings are a specialty although visitors are apt to find fish, feline, bear, moose and Lewis & Clark themed carvings as well. At Dog Bark Park the artists enjoy sharing dog, travel and life stories as well as assisting visitors in planning their vacations.

Dennis J. Sullivan, a self-taught chainsaw artist, has been carving for over twenty years. Frances joined him fifteen years ago and has also learned chainsaw carving. Their "big break" came in 1995 when carvings were sold on QVC television. They did nothing but carve wooden dogs for 18 months (their children barely remember seeing them during those days!). They made what seemed like a bundle of money, invested it all in developing and building Dog Bark Park where visitors most likely will find them happily creating art until, like the pine they use, life returns them to the earth.

At Dog Bark Park they specialize in creating folk-art style wooden canine carvings. Dennis and Frances create over 60 different breeds and poses of dogs and often work from customer's photos to create carvings in the likeness of their canine companions.

The big beagle hibernates until April 2017 when the lodging season re-opens.  He housed a full calendar of guests all season long this year.  Reservations for next season, are coming in earlier than ever.  If staying a night or two is in your plans for 2017 we suggest early reservations before Sweet Willy's date book fills up.

Stayed two nights (the 11th and 12th of October 2014). Awesome. Comfortable bed and room, great restroom INSIDE (the restroom in the fireplug outside is for people just stopping by for pictures), great breakfasts (different every day). Did NOT miss TV or cell phone service. Actually caught up on much needed down time. We took our two Great Danes with us. They enjoyed the stay also. We also enjoyed talking with Dennis and Frances (the owners) and checking out their other artwork. Although Cottonwood, ID is a bit off the beaten path it is well worth the trip to get there.

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our honeymoon in July of 2012. It was fantastic! Yes it's cut off from internet and tv, but for one night that's hardly a sacrifice for such an awesome place to stay! It was clean and the fridge was stocked with yummies to nosh on. I especially liked the plate of beagle cookies awaiting us on our pillow when we arrived. The owners are really friendly and if I ever travel through this part of Idaho again, we will certainly stay! Oh, and the bathroom (on the inside of the dog for the previous poster) was clean and large! What a great place to stay!

Yes, it doesn't have TV but it does have indoor plumbing. It has a rather nice bathroom inside. If you have small children, this place is definitely worth the $. In my opinion, the place was built to appeal to children, and the owners nailed that. There is just something about the place. Not to mention the owners themselves are very nice.

I was thinking about going with hubby if pets were allowed and then I read that it has no TV, for 92.00 a night with an outside tollet it better at least have cable TV even basic cable. So not going to be staying there any time soon. Such a shame.

Once you get past the idea you are sitting on a deck on the side of a giant beagle watching a massive sunset over the prairie whicle big tucks go by down the street....Full from food at the Cottonwood Inn (I think that was the name) where I encountered the best chicken fried steak and strawberry pie I have ever encounterd...you realize how nice a little hotel this really is. You are the only tenent, the bed is great and the loft (now you too can know what goes on inside the head of a dog) is lovely. The wind blows across the prairie at night...the dog ears flap..the whole thing is totaly wonderful and leaves you off tho further your adventures the next day. By the way, the fridge and breakfast are spurb and home cooked...the proprietors successful dreamers. One of the best experience America has to offer. (yes, the bathroom is under the tail, roomy too!)
